Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has now identified his top target to replace Ange Postecoglou, should the Australian be unable to turn around his side’s poor form, according to a report.
Tottenham's Premier League struggles continue
There was some respite for Postecoglou in midweek, with his side turning around a one-goal deficit from the first leg to progress past AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League, booking their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
However, yet another disappointing performance in the Premier League was to follow, with Tottenham succumbing to a 2-0 defeat against Fulham at Craven Cottage to remain rooted in 14th place.
Spurs have collected just 34 points from 29 league games this season in what has been a bitterly disappointing campaign, with their only available route into next season’s Champions League being via a triumph in the Europa League.

As such, it could be Europa League or bust for Postecoglou, with pressure continuing to mount on the Tottenham boss, and a report from GiveMeSport has now revealed Levy has started looking at potential replacements.
AFC Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is said to be Levy’s top target to replace Postecoglou, with the Spurs chairman identifying him as the first-choice option to replace Ange in the dugout.
Bournemouth are determined to keep hold of their manager, with the Cherries planning talks over a new contract, but there have been indications Iraola could be keen on the move to north London, and contact has already been made.
The Bournemouth manager has a release clause of over £5m included in his contract, which would leave the Premier League side powerless to prevent his departure, should Tottenham be willing to stump up the fee.
"Outstanding" Iraola pushing for Europe with Bournemouth
Bournemouth’s form has been patchy in recent weeks, but they remain in a strong position to compete for a European spot, which few would have predicted before the start of the season.
The Cherries are just three points behind sixth-placed Newcastle United, and the 42-year-old has received widespread praise for overseeing a campaign which has surpassed expectations thus far.
The Spaniard has also been lauded as “the next big thing” by Sky Sports’ Joe Thomlinson, who believes Europe’s top clubs should have him on their shortlist.
Postecoglou still has the chance to save the season by winning the Europa League, but if he is unsuccessful, it is difficult to see how he keeps his job given the torrid Premier League campaign, and Iraola has proved he could be a fantastic replacement.
