Bayern Munich have reportedly opened talks with Koln over the signing of German wonderkid Said El Mala. The Bavarian club are said to be the most advanced in their pursuit of the youngster, but they face competition from English sides, as Koln had previously rejected a substantial summer offer from Brighton.
Bayern make contact with Koln
According to , Bayern’s head of scouting, Nils Schmadtke, has informed Koln of the club’s interest in Said El Mala, but no formal negotiations have taken place so far. Koln are reportedly aiming to get a club record transfer fee for El Mala, expected to exceed €35 million (£30m/$40m).

El Mala was signed by Koln from Viktoria Koln on loan and spent the entire 2024-25 season out on loan. In the 2025-26 season, he has made five substitute appearances, impressing with a goal against Freiburg. His performances subsequently earned him a starting role against Hoffenheim, where he scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory.
Brighton had offer rejected by Koln
Bayern will face strong competition for El Mala, as Koln previously rejected a €20m (£17m/$23m) offer from Brighton in the summer. Premier League side Chelsea have now expressed interest in signing the talented winger, while league rivals Borussia Dortmund are also reportedly keeping tabs on the player.
