The Netherlands international, who joined the Cityzens in the summer on a record-breaking deal from Wolfsburg, has been ruled out of action for the next few months after she suffered an ACL injury during the club's 2-1 win over rivals Manchester United in an FA Women's League Cup clash on Wednesday.

The club confirmed Roord's injury via a statement on Saturday which read, "The Netherlands international suffered the injury during Manchester City’s Continental Cup win over Manchester United on Wednesday, 24 January. Jill will remain under the care of City’s medical team and will begin her rehabilitation. Everyone at City wishes her a full and speedy recovery."
