At their end-of-the-year media press conferences, the striker admitted that this offseason his goal is going to be a move abroad to Europe – despite his success at club level. During the 2023 campaign, Vazquez netted 21 times across all competitions for both club and country, and is now pushing for a new opportunity. Despite going public about his desires to depart the MLS side, the club and ownership are 'supportive' of the 25-year-old's decision.

Vazquez missed out on a roster spot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, despite a record-year. Earlier in the summer, he was linked with a Bundesliga switch to Borussia Monchengladbach, but talks never progressed. Now, with the January transfer window less than a month away, he has his eyes and heart set on a move abroad. He's one of many MLS stars looking to make the transatlantic hop across the pond, but both the landing spot and the price have to be correct for both parties to agree to the move. It will be a big offseason for Cincy, who will need to sign a replacement for Vazquez if he departs, while also locking down other roster reinforcements.
DID YOU KNOW?
Prior to his commitment to the USMNT, Vazquez had eligibility for the Mexico national team. However, the federation said 'nothing' to the striker – a potential moment of regret for the Stars and Stripes' Concacaf rivals given his form since.

Cincy and Vazquez will look to get a January deal over the line as fast as possible. The sooner a transfer happens, the more time the club has to find a replacement. However, nothing is certain and no destination is confirmed.
