Press has been sidelines since June, 2022 after she suffered a torn ACL injury while playing for Angel City. As a result of complications during recovery, she underwent four different ACL surgeries – with the most recent being in July, 2023. She missed the entire 2023 season and the most recent FIFA World Cup with the USA.

Angel City released their preseason player roster Wednesday evening, with Press's name included on the team sheet. As a result, fans of the USWNT and the NWSL side flocked to social media with excitement. However, Press's statement is as clear as possible – and it's that she is not ready to return to the pitch yet.
