Loads of West Ham fans have been reflecting on the performance of Ben Johnson against Manchester City, and they want the youngster to keep his place.
Aaron Cresswell suffered a broken toe in the win against Fulham, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed on Wednesday night.
The boss thus opted to hand a debut to Johnson at the Etihad stadium on Wednesday night – a baptism of fire if there ever was one.
The 19 year-old had the difficult task of stopping Riyad Mahrez, and although the Algerian international didn’t get on the scoresheet, he certainly troubled the youngster on plenty of occasions.
However, the Hammers won’t play another team with the quality on the wings that Man City possess, and fans want Johnson to keep his place with the Hammers unlikely to either challenge for Europe or face a relegation scrap.
Arthur Masuaku is of course the other option for Pellegrini while Cresswell is out, but the Frenchman has infuriated fans this season with his lack of defensive awareness.
